Access to Justice
A strong, democratic civil justice system is critical to safeguarding individual rights and promoting public health and safety. Public Citizen fights for the public interest in the courts, works to defend them, and makes them more accessible to ordinary people.

LITIGATION GROUP
The Litigation Group is the litigating arm of Public Citizen. The Group works on cases at all levels of the federal and state judiciaries, and specializes in cases involving regulation, consumer rights, access to the courts, open government, and the First Amendment, including Internet free speech.

Access to Courts & Court Remedies
Primarily through our appellate litigation, Public Citizen works to preserve individuals’ access to the courts and to court remedies. Our work in this area ranges from appellate and Supreme Court cases addressing the right to court-awarded attorney fees, to cases addressing the right to be in state or in federal court, to cases addressing whether consumers have a right to be in court at all.

Particularly noteworthy is our work to defeat corporate “preemption” arguments. Public Citizen believes that tort law is rightly a matter of state, not federal, concern and that, absent an express congressional determination to the contrary, states should remain free to compensate tort plaintiffs as they deem appropriate. With this principle in mind, our Litigation Group, since the early 1990s, has been a leader in fighting against the argument that federal regulation bars, or “preempts,” state-law claims seeking damages for injuries caused by consumer products. Although defendants most frequently assert the preemption defense in product liability and deceptive marketing practices cases, it is also raised in other areas, such as employment cases.

If you have any morals at all, you have to wonder how these people can sleep at night?  Or, are they so perverse that they actually glean pleasure from deceit?  They might think they are smarter than their adversaries that they cheated, or perhaps they think a persons life is nothing more than a game. 

Ive been the recipient of, and been a witness to, the opbvious and overwhelming protection of lawyers by judges.  It really is a “us v them” mentality.

All judges were lawyers before being appointed to the bench.  So there is that commonality there, but to protect an obvious liar and cheater is like giving permision to your signifigant other to cheat, and remaining blind to the scandal.   

Protectionism is the name of the game, and man, do the courts employ that trick.

I dont get it, they all make their money off the backs of injured people – “injured” meaning anything that disturbs ones life.  The courts and the judges are paid from YOUR taxes.  They owe YOU, not the lawyer standing in front of them and lying his ass off. 

I had one judge who started out OK, but like all of them, fell prey to the backhand deals and cash flow of big donators.  And this judge is being considered for the Court of Appeals?

Of course, with my experience now, I doubt if any of them have NOT taken a “donation”. 

Im convinced there is no justice unless you have a lot of cash.
